THE ASSATOURIANS SUPPORT ARMENIA FUND’S PUBLIC HEALTH INITIATIVES

NEW YORK, New York – Armenia Fund USA is pleased to announce Roubik and Gilda Assatourian’s generous donation of orthopedic and rehabilitation products for the elderly and disabled that will go toward Armenia Fund USA’s public health initiatives to improve the healthcare system for citizens of Armenia and Karabakh. High-quality medical products are costly and hard to obtain in Armenia. The supplies, worth $27,840, will be delivered to the Elderly Home in Yerevan as well as to medical centers and healthcare providers throughout the country in early April. The free shipment of these much needed walkers and other products has been made possible by the United Armenian Fund, an organization that Armenia Fund is indebted to for securing the safe arrival and distribution of the humanitarian aid.

«We always knew we were going to help Armenia in some way or the other; we just had to find a credible organization that can facilitate it. Even if these walkers improve one person’s life, that’s what matters», says Roubik Assatourian, the founder and CEO of Jilland Corporation, a company that specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of healthcare products. «Modern equipment and medical supplies are a key to improved healthcare. And participation of each individual through reputable development organizations like Armenia Fund will surely channel the resources to the right places. Armenia Fund has done an incredible job, for example, with the Armine Pagoumian Polyclinic and Diagnostic Center in Karabakh, but we need to continue the process of supplying these medical centers with critically needed medical products. We need coordinated efforts to improve conditions at medical institutions in Armenia. It is such an important task…» says Roubik.

Access to quality healthcare has always been a priority concern in Armenia Fund USA’s agenda for development. What has initially started as a humanitarian involvement 15 years ago has evolved into a robust strategy to affect change by improving the healthcare system in Armenia and Karabakh. The Fund’s public health projects have since ranged from specific need-based intervention programs to large-scale initiatives and construction of multi-specialty healthcare centers.
