Projects - Stepanakert Polyclinic and Diagnostic Center

The existing healthcare facility in Stepanakert is partially destroyed from the war; outdated and un-sterilized. The Stepanakert Polyclinic and Diagnostic Center, located in the region’s capital, will be the first and only full care medical center in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh. The Polyclinic will provide both in-care and out-care facilities and will include a Diagnostic Center which will handle advanced medical testing and analyses for the entire hospital complex.

Armenia Fund USA is currently raising funds to build the National Diagnostic Center, an integral component of the Healthcare facility and an essential element for providing the people of Karabakh with modern day medical assistance. The Fund is committed to moving “beyond bricks and mortar” and in addition to building the Diagnostic Center, is working to furnish a high rate laboratory with ultrasound capabilities, X-ray, ECG, EEG, and MRI equipment. Additionally, Armenia Fund USA will provide ongoing training for medical and administrative personnel and fund an initial 18-month maintenance contract.

In order to provide Karabakh with a world-class healthcare facility, Armenia Fund USA has put together a team of experts that include:
  • Zoya Lazaryan
    NKR Health Minister
  • Karine Andreyan
    Clinic Chief of Staff
  • Kevork Toroyan
    Armenia Fund USA Chairman
  • Dr. Alina Dorian
    International healthcare specialist
  • Annette Choolfaian
    Director Health Management,
    NY Medical College
  • Jeff Kerbeykian
    Hospital architecture and space planning
  • Robert Djerejian
    Hospital design and construction
The Center’s ground breaking in August 2002 marked the beginning of this undertaking and was celebrated by health care personnel, the general populous and regional leaders.

$2 Million in funds are needed to complete the Clinic and Diagnostic Center. Thanks in large part to the generous gift of $750,000 from George Pagoumian, over $1.6 million has been raised to date.

Armenia Fund USA has committed to bringing comprehensive healthcare to Nagorno- Karabakh. With the help of our dedicated donors, we can provide appropriate and effective diagnosis and treatment for the people who have long been living without proper medical assistance.

The future health of Karabakh depends on the vitality of its people. Your support will help sustain the most precious of all our assets…life.
